A MILLIONAIRE BURGLAR.
Here is a real Cap am - Swift, a millionaire burglar, an army officer, a man of rank, who pursued his nefarious profession for the excitement of it aud gave away the proceeds. For years he was at the head of an organised band of housebreakers, evpn while be was in the army— and at last he hs been captured in Paris, and. has confessed, or rather boasted of his deeds. The name of this person is A ugiute Fevrot. He is a young Fienchman — only 30, in favt— but for 11 years he has been a master burglar, employing [ others in the work and giving away as prizes to those under him his share of the proceedings to stimulate the labon of his assistants. Fevrot's father was a millionaire leather mei chant in France, who died some years ago, leaving two — Auguste and a sister, the latter beiDg likewise dead. In Auguste's life no romance seems to have entered, except the romance of crimej and crime of a character which most men would seek to avoid. Afc the age of 19, according to his own story, he had not indicated, even to himself, any disposition to transcend the bounds ordinarily fixed by society. Then ifc happenpd one night that a bind of young ruffians, meeting him in tl.e street and n.isfcakinw him for one of their own cu^, asked him to accompany them on an "expedition." The expedition proved to be an attempt fco rob the safe ia one of the nearby ' business offices. It failed, and two of the band were captured, Fevt ot barely managing to make his escape. The two captured men were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment. Young Fevrot. in the luxurious home of his father, pondered over fche affair and studied for a week. Then, strange fco say, undaunted by the fate of his two companions, he took the remaining members of the gang one night, and under his leidership the job was successfully executed. From that time on he bpcame an acknowledged master of the Parisian cracksmen, and from facts now in the possession of the po'ice it was evident that he was tin i_ 'Ster spirit in hundreds of robberies. It is even asserted that he has pursued his nefarious calling in England, but in all his career of crime he never neghcted the social side of his life, which his wealth enabled him to maintain with luxurious dignify.
