Nelson Creek.

(Our Correspondent.) The Nelson Creek School Committee ' election came off on fche 22nd in a very , pleasant manner. Mr Patrick O'Brien, • fche outgoing chairman, read fche an--1 nual report, whicli was highly flattering to Mr Malone and his assistant, : Miss Barnhill. After passing a hearty vote of thanks to the teaching staff a and committee for the efficient way 3 fchey had conducted the affairs of the 1 school for fche last 12 months, the fol- -- lowing gentlemen were nominated and declared duly elected : — Messrs P J O'Brien, R Larkin, H Williams, P

Moran, J O'Brien, T Magee, and D Coll. At a meeting of the committee held after the election Mr P O'Brien was elected chairman and secretary. It is to be hoped that Mr O'Brien during his term of office will put his foot down and insist on a better attendance in our school. By doing so the committee will deserve the thanks of the teacher, and eventually earn the thanks of those parents who so grossly neglect the education of their children. I wish to draw the County Engineer's attention to the dangerous state of the Try Again road. It is well known that portions of this road are liable at any moment to collapse under the heavy timber and coal wagons" working on it. The road is in such a state that it is not unusual' to see cattle drinking oufc of pools on fche road. I think fchafc fche Council will be acting wisely in putting this thorough _ fare in a proper state of repair or placarding it dangerous.
