The first test match commenced on the Tontbridge Ground, Nottingham, to-day. The weather is glorious and the ground in excellent condition and the wicket fast. 2000 people were present at the opening of the gates. Johns, M'Leod, and Worrall are standing out Darling and Iredale opened to Hearne and Rhodes Tho first wicket fell for j 22. Iredale had a life at 14, aud put up a ball to Hay ward almost immediately afterwards, fche enkch being secured. Darling played with confidence and made brilliant cuts to the boundary.
