THE MISSING STEAMER PERTHSHIRE.
The Vessel Met With [per press association.] Auckland, May 31. The Devonport Ferry Company have decided not to send the tug Admiral in search of the Perthshire. Auckland, Junel. The Stella, which left Hokianga on Monday, was reported off Cape Maria VanDieman, going south at 4 p m yesterday. Itis thought that she has been cruising from the Three Kings southwards in Rearch of the Perthshire. The Stella is coming into Kaipara heads alone. In response to enquiries from the light-keepers they stated that so far there is no sign of the missing vessel in that locality. i*Y ELECTRIC TELmRAPH COPYRIGHT.] (Received June 2, at 12 25 a m) Sydney, June 1. The tug reports speaking the barque Northern Chief from Kaipara off the coast. The captain of the latter reported that he passed the Perthshire last Thursday in latitude 34 south, longitude 164 east, and about 400 miles from Cape Maria Van Dieman. The Perthshire reported all well. The Northern Chief met heavy Aveather after passing the Perthshire.
