NELSON CREEK.

(our correspondent. ) The annual meoting of the . Nelson Creek householders was held in the state school on Monday evening. A large number of householders, chiefly bachelors, attended. Nelson Creek parents know too much to bother wise heads with annual reports or the election o,f a school committee. Mr 'Thomas Magee, the chairman of the outgoing committee, occupied the chair. After reading the annual report, which was "highly flattering to "Mr Malone and his assistant (Miss Barnhill), he asked for nominations for the new committee, when ten candidates toed |bhe mark. After a close run the following gentlemen were duly; elected :^- ; Messrs Micliael O'Brien, John O'Brien, Patrick O'Brien, P Moran, P Tobin,. R Larkin and T Magee, ; the latter 'being elected chairman, secretary and treasurer. On more than one occasion I have drawn the committee's attention to. the number of children running about the road and not attending school. It is to be hoped our iiew committee will have the courage of their convictions by compelling these children to attend school, and by doing so they will confer a benefit not. only on the children but also on the teachers. It will show/ the interest parents take, in school matters when I may state that Try Again Terrace sends nearly half the children attending the school, and the Terrace was not represented .by a single, parent at the htoeting; .• Theseare the'people that. will sing btifc: loud arid long At anyfching.gpes wrong with the way their school js- conducted/ ; •..■•:.>.■-,,•. : .-..,.;. ;.■..••/./!,.
