LIVE STOCK MARKET.

Messrs G. VV. Moss and Co report yesterday's sale at Preston yards as follows : — The entry consisted of 49 local cattle, of which 32 were placed at an advance on former market quotations, the balance being forward stores were bought for topping off. The ship stock was detained at Wanganui, owing to bad weather. 440 sheep were entered and found readysale at a slight advanced on late ruling rates : — We sold on account, of Mr James Marshall/ 7 prime quality heavy weight, bullocks from L 8 to L 9, topping the market, averaging L 8 8s ; 4 heifers, L3to L 5 15s. On account of clients, 5 mixed cattle, L 2 to L 3 ss. Fat Sheep— On accounb of Mr P Corcoran, 160 prime crossbreds afc 11s. On account of Mr T W Bruce, 68 prime crossbred wethers, 12s to 12s 3d. On account of Mr T Kennedy, 84 prime crossbred ewes at 9s 3d. Fat and Store Pigs — 26 for clients from L 2 15s to L 3 5s for heavy baconers, i 14s to LI 18 for stores, 7s for weaners. ] Mark Sprot and Co report at the yards, Preston road, Greymouth, yesterday, the entry was comprised of 54 cattle, 275 sheep and 30 lambs from the Grey Valley and 84 Canterbury sheep. Values, considering the time of the year were fahly aatisfactoay to vendors, all lines being cleared at prices in advance of previous sale rates: — We sold on account of Mr C Belle w, 21 prime handy weight bullocks from L 7 to L 5 10s, averaging L 6. On account of Mr George Mason, 17 light steers frpm L 5. On accpunt of Mr T Pullen, 6 steers and heifers at an average of L 3 15s. On account of a client, 1 steer, L 5. Fat Sheef— On account of Mr C Bellew, 90 prime crossbreds at up to 11s 9d. On account pf a client, 25 store sheep at 6s 9d. Fat Lambs— On account of Mr Bellew, 33 shorn lambs at 7s. ;
