The jury, after J> 30 minutes' retirement returned with a 0 Terdiotof •♦ Guilty . w Justice William, pronounced sentence of death. Accused wa< outwardly quiet, unmoved, nnd in reply to the usual question whether she had anything to say spoke dearly and firmly, her answer being "No ; exoept. to thank Deteotlve M'3rath for his kindness to m«." It Is over 16 years since Jasttce Williams pronounced sentence of death in Invercargill, on Walsh, the Waikawa wife murderer, whose exeoation was the on/y ons In the district of Southland. About 22 children hate been traced to Mrs Dean's keeping, and not more than half are yet accounted for.
