[from ovr correspondent.] May 6. At a sitting of the Resident Magistrate's Court held to-day before Major Keddell, R M, Richard Hey ward was charged by Johanna Noonan with assault and battery. Mr Guinness appeared for complainant, Mr Jones for defendant. From the evidence of Dr Buckby and a man named Bassett the charge was fully proved. Bassett in his evidence stated that he saw Heywaid strike Mrs Noonan with a hammer. Defendant waa fined LI and costs, A very peculiar feature In the evidence of W. F.
