TWO FIRES.
— <• [united press association.] Auckland, January 25. Two fires occurred at Archill yesterday resulting in the damage of over £2000. The first was a four-roomed cottage insured for £50 in the London and Lancashire. The furniture was insured. The fire originated in a cooking oven. The second fire destroyed five shops with dwellings attached. The outbreak occurred at Warren's grocery. The first three shops were owned by young Warren, and were insured for £300 in the Union, and were reinsured. The other two Bhops, owned by Hellaby, were insured for £875. Warren's grocer's shop
was insured for £150 in the South British, the furniture for £100. The loss was total. The second shop was occupied by Morden, bootmaker. The other Bhop by M'Kellar, confectioner, and were uninsured. The fourth shop, Lambert's, was insured for £50 in the Imperial. The last shop, Nettinghom's, was insured for £100, in . the Norwich.
