A STABBING CASE,

Christchurch, July 27. A case of stabbing has occurred here tonight, in which the perpetrator was Geo. Brown, a lodging house keeper, and the sufferer a young man named Thomas M'Mahon. It appears that Brown had been the worse for liqnor all the day, an<? quarrelling with M'Mahon. In the evening, as the young man was going into the dining room, Brown rushed at him with an open pocket knife. M'Mahon knocked down his assailant, but he rose, and stabbed M'Mahon on the left hip. Brown was overpowered, and subsequently arrested on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. July 27. George Brown has been committed for trial for having stabbed Thos. M'Mahon in a, fracas at Brown's boarding house.
