LIVE STOCK REPORT.
Monday, July 26. Fat Cattle — The number yarded .was again far in excess of requirements, but as they were all Wanganui cattle, they were* with the exception of two lots, of really prime quality, in fact as good beef as could be found in any part of the world. Still prices ruled remarkably low, the best bullocks realising only L9 lss for the pick, gradually receding to L 7 10s. Heifers brought fiom Ls l2s 6d to L 5, and as they were handy weights they were all disposed of. One mob of almost store cattle was started at L 6 ss, but only seven were sold, the last two at L 5 10?, when the balance were withdrawn. Another lot of heavy weights, bnt wild, did not receive a bid. Prime beef to-day sold at barely 20s per 1001 b, and inferior at a less price.
Fat Sheep — All penned were sold, the quality being fair, at from 15s to 16s per head, or a shilling dearer than last sale. Good mutton is worth 2£d per lb.
Fat Pigs- Fifty were to hand, and as they were all nice weights, suitable for the trade, they were all disposed of, bringing from L 2 17s 6d down to 30s, according to weight, or about 5d per lb.
