MISSING.

A. L. Levy, J.P., secretary of the Wellington branch of the Temperance Alliance, has been missing since Thursday, and nothing has been heard of him since. On Wednesday last Levy, and some of the members of the Cook Licensing Committee, each received a letter threatening them that their lives would be taken if they persisted in determining to close three hotels in the district. No reason is known for his absence, which is causing anxiety to his friends. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police.
