June 11. At a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board to consider the Amending Bill it was resolved" to strongly remonstrate against the proposal to make section three of the Amending Bill retrospective, and an opinion was expressed that if Government persisted in forcing through the bill in its present shape it would be for the board to consider whether they would resign and throw the onus of managing the institutiohsfon. the Government. It waa pointed out that under the intrepretation put on the Act in the first instance only .£SOO was required for each Industrial School, but each would now cost £2000.
