THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

Chrisxchukch, January 27. At to-day's sitting a committee composed of the treasurers of the Home Mission with the chairman of districts and representatives sat during the morning in order to prepare business for the Conference. In the afternoon sessions, after receiving the notices of motion, Mr Reid read the Auckland minutes of the Home Mission Committee meetings held during the year, which showed that the work on the various mission stations had heen carried on in a satisfactory state. Mr Prime, general treasurer, then submitted the balance-sheet, which showed that the following amounts had been raised towards Home Missions in the respective districts : —Auckland, LB9O 14s lid; Wanganui, LllO 13s 5d ; Wellington, LI 65 5s Id ; Nelson, Llll 4s 9d; Canterbury. L 596 9s 6d ; Otago, L 173 3s ; commercial properties, L 325 4s ; interest on investments, Ll7O 0s Id ; sundries. Ll7 53 ; making a total of L 2560 12s 6d. The expenditure was stated to be—Maori missions, L 960 18s 8d ; European stations, grants-in-aid, Ll5O ; contributions to English circuits, L 662 10s ; Scandinavian Mission, L9O ; parsonage, T,BO ; furniture grants, L 95 ; special, L 49 6s 4d ; general, L 447 19s lid ; total, L 2645 6s 7d ; leaving a debit balance of LB4 14s Id. The estimated income for next year was given as L 2766 10s, and the expenditure a? L 2697 8s Id. The appointment of a ministerial evangelist was discussed at considerable length. A committee was appointed to consider the matter more fully.
