MELANCHOLY BOAT ACCIDENT.

Havjblock, January 9.

A melancholy boating accident happened here yesterday. Six boys, aged from 17 to 5 years, went out fishing. When returning home under sail the boat jibed and capsized, throwing all the occupants into the water. With some difficulty all got hold of the boat, but were several times rolled off. After a time two of the boys, Charles and Herbert Rutherford, aged 12 and 11 respectively, disappeared and were seen no more. There ia little hope of recovering the bodies. The remaing four boys were rescued when almost exhausted by a passing boat. Charles Mathews, aged 13, appears to have saved his little brother aged 5, in a very commendable way in keeping him out of the water on his back until assistance arrived. In this he was assisted by Jas. Rutherford, brother. of the lads drowned. The lads were in the water over an hour.
