THE Grey River Argus PUBLISHED DAILY. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1885.

Unclaimed letters to the following addresses are lying at the Post Office : — Lewis Kailin, Thomas Ahem, Annie Barlow, and Richard Wilson. Information respecting the whereabouts of the under-mentioned persons is wanted at the General Post Office :— P. H. Farrell, builder, who left England .about 15 years ago- C. Fagg, who used to be at Hindon, and about two years since left Dunedin for Sydney. He is inquired for by his sister in Dover, England. Augustus Dillon, last heard of in Wellington some time ago. He is an actor, and is supposed to have left Wellington with a small theatrical company. Mr Frank Turner of London. He has been addressed to Hawke's Bay, but cannot be traced there. Mr Seed, secretary of Customs, finished his inspection of the Customs department at this port on Saturday last, and, it is understood, he expressed his entire satisfaction at the way the business is conducted by the collector, Mr Woon, and hia subordinates. No fault was found — the books, accounts, and returns, &c, were found to be properly and correctly kept, and the rules and regulations duly observed. Mr Seed complimented Mr Woon on the manner in which the business of the department is carried on, which must be gratifying to that gentleman and those serVing under him ; and the commercial portion of the community will, no doubt, be pleased to learn that so satisfactory a state of things exists. It : s also pleasing to be able to record the fact that the relations txisting between the depart ment and the business men of the port generally are of a most cordial and satisfactory nature. The examination for the Watkin's prize medal started yesterday morning at the Greyraouth State School. Messrs Tonks and Lord were the supervisors. Aritb metic was. the first Biibject taken, and was decidedly a very severe test, — too severe, in fact when the percentage to pass stands at 50. Grammer was next taken, and the paper in this subject was moderate and fairly within the scope of children under ' 15. The other papers will be taken today. A complimentary ball will be given thi-; evening to Professor Calon on the occasion of his departure from Grey mouth. It will be as much in the nature of a musical reunion as anything else. The orchestral music will .be a feature of the evening. Nancarrow and Co. will soil at their rooms, at 11 o'clock, a quantity of cherries, green peas, and new potatoes. Indigestion. — The main cause of nervousness is indigestion, and that is caused by weakness of the stomach. No one can have sound nerves and good health without using Hop Bitters to strengthen fclie stomach, purify the blood, and keep the liver and kidneys active, to carry. off ! all the poisonous and waste matter of the ; system. See. — Advt. ' Never Return. — It ia said that oue of ! every four.real invalids who go to foreign countries to recover health never, return, except as a. corpse. The undertakers, next to the hotel-keepers, have the most prolitable business. This excessive morality may be prevented and patients served and cured under the care of friends and loved ones at home, if they will but use Hop Bitters in time. Read. Sir Astley Cooper the renowned British surgeon once said that no man should.be aware from his sensations that he lias a

stomach. Alas ! how many thousands are painfully and continually reminded of the existence of that organ. Dyspepsia renders the lives of the unfortunates perfectly miserable. Every manifestation of the disease vanishes, however, when Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps is used to strengthen the stomach and associate organs.- — Advt.
