[united press association.] SOUTH SEA ISLAND TRADE. Christchurch, November 10. Mr J. Gould, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, in his address to-day said that the Committee had informed the Governmpnt that all the advantages to the southern ports in connection with the South Sea Island trade would be lost by the proposed alteration to make Auckland the sole port of call, and great damage would result to cargo in transhipment at Auckland owing to exposure on the wharf and the additional handling necessary.

Bishop, advertising agent, by Mr J. S. Reid, proprietor of BradsJiaw's Guide for New Zealand. The latter is moving for an injunction to restrain Bishop from entering on the publication and sale of a monthly work to be known as Bishop's Bradshaio Guide for New Zealand. The case will come on for hearing in the Supreme Court shortly.
