BARQUE HUDSON ASHORE,

Tdiaru, November 26. i The barque Hudson, Captain E. Thomas, from London to Lyttelton, which left on the 15th August, went ashore this morning near Milford, about 12 miles north of Timaru, in a dense fog. The naws reached Timaru at eight o'clock, and the Rocket Brigade proceeded to render assistance. The tug Titan also, with the harbormaster on board, went to her assistance at 10.50. The cr«w are reported to have landed safely, but further particulars are not yet to han '. The sea is calm, no wind, and the vessel is not damaged. Later. The tug has returned from the barque Hudson. The Harbormaster says she is lying, head on the beach, near Milford lagoon.; The Hudson went ashore at 3 o'clock this morning. The Captain declines to state how, remarking he will have to answer enough by-and-by. The ship is owned by Shaw, Savill and Co. She is on a sandy beach, and is not in any way injured. The cargo is all right. The crew got ashore without difficulty. It is probable she will get off, should the weatherlceep fine. '[ Th'e'tug Lyttelton left at 3.15 p.m. to assist to get off the Hudson. The steamer Herald left this evening with men to discharge the cargo so as to lighten the ship. Amongst the cargo is a locomotive consigned to the Government and a quantity of gunpowder. The bulk of the cargo consists of general merchandise, and is consigned to John Inglis and Do. , Christchurch. She belongs to the Shaw Savill and Alhioa Company's fleet.
