THE HALF-HOLIDAY MOVEMENT.
{ Chiustchukch, November 18. The proprietors of the boot and other factories here are very much opposed to the Thursday halt-holiday movement, and the City Council have demurred to declaring Thursday the day upon which factory hands are entitled to the half -holiday under the amended Employment of Females and Others Act. November 19. The Thursday half-holiday was very generally observed, Most of the shops in
Wn w ere closed, and 1000 persons went on a railway excursion to Kaiapoi.
