SUPREME COURT CRIMINAL SESSIONS.

Wellington* October 6. At the Supreme Court, Philip Samway for the larceny of a watch, was found not guilty and discharged. George Thomas Skiinner pleaded guilty to forgery and uttering. Sentence was deferred until to-morrow. C. E. Watson, a lad, was sentenced to one year; J. A. Gordon, larc eny as a bailee, six years ; G. Price, hon ie stealing, six years ; John Cunningham, breaking and entering, three years. The Court adjourned until Thursday, wh< in the Hutt tarring case will be taken. Christchukch October 6. !The criminal session of the Supreme ; Court was concluded this afternoon. In the case of Regina v Devery, larceny as a bailee, Mr Martin, the Crown Prosecutor, ,, had to abandon the prosecution on the point that there had been no delivery of the chattels, and hence no bailment under, the Larceny Act. His Honor therefore directed the jury to return a verdict of; "not guilty," which was done *nd the' prisomer discharged. Dunedin, October 6. At the criminal sittings to-day- Maria Scanloli was found guilty of stealing a

dress skirt. It had been sent to the owner by a firm of drapers, but as no one was at home it was left in an outhouse. Charles Moxham and John M'Lennon were also fou d guilty of robbing a countryman named Campbell oi £30. They had shepherded him for some time, and getting him into a right-of-way eased him of his money. Sentence was deferred in both instances. Maria Scanlon, for larceny and "housebreaking (2 indictments), was sentenced to two years on each indictment, to run concurrently. Edward Hughes, aged 18, for housebreaking, received three years. \
