There was a naval captain, called Baranoff, who one day Bailed into Sebastopol, at the commencement of the Crimean war, and announced that he had sunk a Turkish man-of-war. He and his officers, with one exception, were decorated. The one, being indignant at his exclusion, let the cat out of the bag. The Turkish man-of-war had been ah invention of the ingenious; Baranoff. He was court-martialled and dismissed the service.
