A disastrous fire took place in this city last night, by which two large drapers' shops situated in Haymarket sfcreot were entirely destroyed, the damage bf ing estimated at fully £10,000. It is understood that Alexander Stuart will forward his resignation to the Governor to-day, andDibbs, the present Colonial Treasurer, be sent for to re-consfcruct the Ministry. The writs for the new election will probably be issued on Wednesday next. NEW SOUTH WALES MINISTERIAL RECONSTRUCTION". Sir Alexander Stuart, Premier, placed his resignation in the hands of the Governor to-day. His Excellency sent for the hon. W. B. Dalley, Attorney-General, who, however, declined to form a Ministry. Lord Loftus then called upon the hon. G. R. Dibbs, Colonial Treasurer, who undertook the task, and is now actively engaged in endeavoring to reconstruct the Ministry. Service will shortly ask in Parliament to authorise a loan of two millions to be applied to the construction of railways in Victoria. THE S.S. GULF OF CARPENTARIA. The Government steamer Dispatch, which was sent to survey the locality of the wreck of the steamer Galf of Carpentaria, discovered the sunken rock on which the vessel struck. It lies at a depth of fifteen feet below low water mark.
