' Weatland, tug steamer,., Taupu, from southern ports Maori, from 3 Wellington I Cora, from Waitara Commander Edwin wired urgent at 11.30 a.m. yesterday that bad weather may .be expected from any direction between W.to S. and S.E. ; glass to further rise .and sea. continuing during the next. 16 Kdurß. There was a slight fresh in the river V.yeftterday and arough bar. Consequently there was nothing in the way of shipping 'to report. The Union Company and Black Diamond Line steamer Omapere left Nelson at 3 p.m. yesterday for Grey mouth. -via Westport. • . • - .- , r The Union Company and Black Diamond Line iron steamer Ohau left Auckland at 4 p.m. yesterday for Grey mouth direct. ■ H.M.S. Opal, commissioned to relieve Eepiegle on the Australian station, ■reached Sydney on the 6th inst. The .Opal carries a complement of 232 officers and men, all told. The Opal is of; the Gem class, and is 230 ft in length, 40ft beam, 19ft draught, and 2121^ tons displacement. The engines are ;of 2190 horse-power indicated, and are ■ capable of driving the vessel at the rate of 13g knots an hour.
