FIRES.

Wellington, September 30. A four-roomed cottage in Roxborough was destroyed by fire at ten o'clock this | morning. It was insured for £100 in the Colonial. Incendiarism is suspected. Hawera, September 30. Afire occurred at Maxwell's Hotel this morning at 9 o'clock', its origin being a • mystery. The outbreak took place in the lining near the kitchen chimney, but there was no trace of fire- having been communicated from the fire places or chimi neys. The fire was extinguished by the brigade when about £70 worth of damage had been done. - Insurances are — on the building, L2OO in the Northern ; and L2OO in Phoenix ; on the furniture, L4OO ; and on the stock, £300 in the Colonial.
