[from our correspondent.] Wellington , September 17. The Minister proposed that the words extension of (the railways) be struck out, and sidings be inserted. This was carried* He then moved to strike out the words and insert others, so that the clause would embrace the construction and sidings to the railways " for facilitating the working of railways and the construction of the harbor." Thiawas carried. Mr Seddon moved a proviso that the Boards should

not spend more than LIOOO each, but withdrew it. It is expected that the reports will be made on Saturday. September 18. In the House this afternoon the San Francisco mail resolution, which*' l telegraphed you last night, was carried after a long discussion. In answer to Major Atkinson, the Premier said the prorogation would not taktf place on Saturday. The Government intimated that a Consolidated Mining Bill will be brought down next session. The House then went int© Committee on the supplementary estimates, and a long discussion ensued on the vote of. £10,000 subsidy of pou v id for pound on rates col ected on goldfields. The item of LIO,OOO for goldfields subsidies was passed without alteration. The Land Bill has been received in a mutilated condition, and a number <>f amendments were disagreed with. Little or no alteration was made in the Supplementary Estimates.
