Brunnerton, July 23. I The billiard match was a very tanb affair, Thomas playing a waiting game, anil . winning at last by 25 points. •,. ; '"■' ■ A public 'meetirig was held last' night in the Wallsend schodlropm,'Mr Lee in the chair There was- a small attendance. The following resolutions were-,carried :—- --" That the meeting view with alarm the proposed erection of a bridge above the present structure, and are of opinion that it would be a useless expenditure of public moneys and inadequate to the wants of the district. "

V That this meeting respectfully recommend the Government to consider the advisableness of building a bridge over the Grey river at Rocky Island, as a bridge at this place, could be constructed at a much less cost, and w:uld be a great convenience to about 2000 of the population of the district, besides assisting considerably in the development of the Coal Creek and Coal Pit Heath mines."
