THE AFGHAN FRONTIER AFFAIRS.
In the House of Commons to-night Lord Randolph Churchill, Secretary for India, gave an official denial to thestatement recently made by the Standard newspaper to the effect that Meruchak had been ceded to Russia in exchange for the Zulfikar Pass. The Hon. F. Stanley informed the House that a gradual reduction of the Imperial forces would take place so far as was consistent with the safety of the. Empire.
