Gained two first prizes and one 2nd prize at Ashburton, in 1881, 1882, and 1883. Sire Sir Colin Campbell, dam Belle 2nd, oy Major, grand dam Belle, by Blair's Champion. Sir Colin Campbell was by King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride, all too well known to require comment. Major, when three years old, gained the first prize at the Royal Agricultural Society Show, for the best stallion for dray purposes, competing against aged horses, and was sold Mr Kermode for 900 guineas Blair's Champion was a winner of many prizes in Scotland, Victoria, and Otago, and admitted to be one of the best horses that ever crossed the line. Belle was a winner of prizes at the prin cipal shows in Otago every time exhibited, from a yearling to five years old. She also took first prize at Christchurch three years in succession, the first prize at Timaru, and gold medal as the best mare on the ground. Belle was sold at Mr Wellwood's sale for 266 guineas, to J. C. M'Kerrow, Esq., who has since refused 300 guineas for her. The above will show Commander to be descended from the best stock ever imported to the colonies. Terms j £3 10s. Mares paddocked 2s 6d per week. All care taken, but no responsibility.
