The Cut Seed produced the Best Crop. The descriptio a given below shows the order in which the Potatoes become ready for digging :— Ist. Early Shaw. — Ready first week in December. A Round White Potato, cuts white, heavy croppei 1 , good quality. . -■'■ 2nd. Early Manly.— Round White Potato, heavy cropper, very ; coarse, cuts yellow, must be used as dug, otherwise boils waxy. ; 3rd. Early Rose- — Ready second week in December. Red Kidney Variety, handsome shaped Potato, requires good rich light soil; in j heavy soil inclined to be watery. ; 4th. Early Vermont.— Very similar to Early Rose, but hardier, and is a better cropper. sth. Alpha. — Very handsome White Potato ; good cropper ; boils floury ; took first prize at Greymouth Horticultural Show last ; December. 6th. Snowflake. — Very fine White Potatoe, immense Cropper. 7th. Prolific— Something similar to Snowflake, but not quite so early. ; ; , Bth. Pink Eye.— A well-known sort ;■ needs no description ; the best second Early Potatoes. ■ : 9th.
