DISTRICT COURT.
*__ Wednesday, 23rd January. (Before His Hon. Judge Broad.) I I MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY. John White was arraigned on the charge of maliciously destroying property in the Roman Catholic Chapel, No Town. Evidence was taken, which left no doubt as to prisoner's guilt. Father Holland, who was examined, was questioned in the most irrelevant manner by the prisoner, who spoke and acted in such a way j as to leave little doubt as to the man's eccentricity, if not saneness. After hearing all the facts of the case the jury returned a verdict of " guilty" of the crime charged, but with the opinion that the prisoner was suffering from insanity at the time he committed the offence he was charged with. uted, and Mr Warner appeared for the defence.
