January 4. It has transpired that at a Cabinet Council held yesterday the position of affairs in Egypt was discussed at length, but it is undestood that no definite decision Avas arrived at as to the line of; action which should be taken for com- : pletingpaciii cation and consolidation of that country. Another meeting of the cabinet will, however, take place to-day, when it is expected that a decision involving the adoption of important measures will be agreed to.
