Early ;on Sunday; inorjiing ,a. boy going/out with muk'found a woman lying iri a ditch jat the side of the road. He recognised her as Mrs O'Reilly, aged 36,, a servant at the West dive Hotel, her brother 'being a ' : wh'eelwrightein;/tsie?,same ; township. 'The woman was .taken immediately to her. brother's house, but though every effort was made to restore animation she died- in half-an-hour. It appears that deceased, together with her brother and Mrs Diamond, left the hotel the previous night at half-past 8 o'clock, intending to see tha latter to her home, a mile down the I road. The night was dark and raining. ! After going a considerable way, deceased i: said she could not go farther, but would wait till Hall's return. Hall wanted; to take her into: a neighboring 'cottage, tut she refused. When Hall returned, not !' seeing^herl he imagined she; had returned ; to the 'hotelv At the ;hoteViit was siip- r | posed she had ..spent; the. night at Hall's, and no suspicions weve aroused.
