AN AUCKLAND FIRE.

Auckland, February 24. The Waverley Hotel, Queen's street, was discovered to be on fire at two o'clock thi3 morning, and before the fire brigade succeeded in getting the flames under a considerable proportion of the building was completely gutted. The hotel is the property of the City Counoil.- The insurances on the building are L4OO in the South British, and LSOO in the National. Samuel's stock of cutlery, which was damaged by the water, was insured in the Sun office for L 250.
