An instanca of canine aagaoity was shown a few days ago by a dbg belonging to Mr Courtney. The creature had a favorite com-, panion, a dog owned by Mr Watkins, which was considered by its owner aY nrifittolive, and Has . therefore sewn up in » bag and deposited in the Henui River, $lr. Court*ney's dog got •' scent" of the occurrence, and went into the river and nobly rescued his companion. He was fotfnd tearing up the bag in the ehdeavof .to liberate his highly esteemed friend.
