Miscellaneous. /"OXYGEN IS LIFE Although the modern Materia Medica includes many valuable remedies for human fflictions, it is a matter of certainty that in all cases where the animal vitality is failing, Phosphorus is decidedly superior to every other remedy at present known. It will work effects such as nothing else will produce, and it possesses the great advantage of not causing, when its use is relinquished, the slightest reaction or depression. The question naturally presents itself, "Who is so valuable an element so little rpparded and so seldomn prescribed ?" The only answer which can be given is : — That a pertain difficulty haß been found in so preparing it that [its aciion may be kept under perfect control. Hitherto it has been used as almond and olive < ils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several other substances ; but however valuable it has been found in all the hitherto known methods of its preparation, certain irregular results have been experienced, which have led physicians to neglect it for general purposes, and to employ it only in extreme cases, and after every other remedy has failed. But a chemical process has row been discovered by which its invaluable action on the human system may be realised without a,ny of those drawbacks which previous modes of administration have invariably produced. IV CAUTION.— PHOSPHORUS 1b sometimes sold in the form of Pills and Lozenges ; it should be generally known that every form where solid particles of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the public should be cautioned against the use of any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water. The GREAT INDIAN CURE for all Bilious and liver Complaints. (From an old Indian Recipe. Asa Tonic there is no preparation in this country that can compare with it. It does not create that nausea on the palate that is complained of in other Tonics, and a peculiarity of it is that it does not destroy the color, flavour, or bouquet of any liquid it is mixed with ; the bitter taste is not experienced until the liquor is swallowed ; and it clears the palate without leaving any disagreeable sensation on the tongue. As an appetiser it is unequalled, aud the small quantity required for each dose (four to six drops to a wine glass of liquid being sufficient) renders it oheaper than any preparation now before the public. Numerous testimonials can be Bhown as to its efficacy. Agents for Melbourne— A. CAINE & CO., 83 Swanston Btroot.
