Medical ■vr 0 t 1 c c PURE VO r ATILE EUOALYPTUvS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished Patronage of His Majesty the King of ttaly, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul General for Italy at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affam, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract, So far aB the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concorned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the I products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of onr assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for odb pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. Kofc wishing to become one of the residents of the Professor's intended Lunatic Asylum now being erected in England, I lately bought a box of Holloway's Pills, took them at intervals, and refrained from the "flowing bowl," and Richard's himself again. Holloway's Pills and Ointment are largely used in Bermuda, and that accounts, in my opinion, for the longevity of its inhabitants. I feel quite assured, however, that Professor Holloway is and has been one of the greatest benefactors to the human race that has ever lived, and that his name will be handed down to posterity when the nameß of our bravest manslayers are forgotten. Strange to say that we, in different ways, strive to acquire the art of killing, but our own preservation we take little heed of. I have lived in Bermuda 26 years, and in that time have inquired of soldiers how the) have preserved their health so well ; the answer has generally been, "By not going to the Army Doctor, but by using the Pills and Ointment." Yours, J. W. ODDY, . TUCKER TOWN, BERMUDA, Formerly Secretary to the Duke of BrunsI wick .^ WASTE PAPER at the ARGUS 1 OFFICE.
