NOTICE is hereby given that the following Bye-law having been duly pa'sssd by the Municipal Council of the Borough of Greymouth is now published in pursuance of the provisions of the 34th section of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," and further that such Bye-law shall come into force on the 24th day of March, 1880. BYE- LAW No. XL Bye-law No. 11 of the Council of the Borough of Greymouth, made under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876." A Bye-law to regulate the driving of cattle. In pursuance of the Provisions of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," the i Council of the Borough of Greymouth do hereby ordain as follows :— 1. It shall not be lawful for any person at any time to drive or cause to be driven any Cattle not in harness or yoke into or through along or upon any of the streets of the Borough of Greymouth situate to the East side of a l\ne commencing at the junction of the Western side of Arney street with the Grey River, and extending Southerly along the Western side of Arney street to the North-western corner of Swainson and Arney streets, thence extending Easterly to the North-eastern corner of Swainson and Arney streets, thence extending Southerly along the Eastern side of Arney street to the North-eastern corner of Sefton Bridge, and thence by a line extending Southerly at a bearing of 45 degrees 45 minutes for a distance of 55 chains 50 links to the NorthWest comer of section 444, tbence ilong the East side line of the Water Walk and the West Boundary of the Cemetery Reserve to the Southern Boundary of the Borough, and which prohibited part is colored green on a plan of the said Borough deposited in the Office of the Town Clerk and sealed with the seal of the said Borough, except between the hours of 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. and between Five o'clock p.tr>. and Eight o'clock a.m. 2. It shall not be lawful for any person at any time of the night or day to drive or cauße to be driven any cittle, goats, pigs sheep or other animal in, through, along or upon any of the footways or any parts thereof, of or in the Borough of Greymouth. 3. The word "Cattle " when used in this Bye-law shall mean only horses, asses, mules, bulls, bullocks, and cows, and shall not extend to any other animal. 4. The words "Streets and Footways" when used in this Bye-law shall mean streets and footways as defined by the 23rd section of " i he Municipal Corporations Act, IS7S," and the words streets shall also include private streets. 5. Any person committing a breach of this Bye law shall for every such breach be liable on conviction to pay a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 6. Regulation No. 4 made under Bubdivision No. 9 of part 1 of the 13th Schedule of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," heretofore in force in the said Borough is hereby repealed.
