Grahamstown, Sept 10. At the Municipal election Messrs Osborne and Bawden were returned. A young lady hamed Pervis, daughter of fl. M. "Pervis, Esq., J.P., had the tops of four fingers blown off through carelessly examining a dynamite cap. The Maori runanga at Ohinemuri has closed its examination of witnesses in the shooting case, and will take tomorrow to discuss their decision. The sub-inspec'or in charge is present with a warrant to arrest, as soon as the decisiou of the chiefs is made known, but it ia supl posed he will be at a 1033 what to do if the r decision is averse to the surrender to justice of the. accused. He has communicated with the .Native Minister for instruc tions. Quite a concourse of citizens assembled opposite the Advertise Office last evening, awaiting the receipt of a telegram announcing the result of the polling for Christchurch city, and it was not until some time after half past 8 that the longexpected message arrived. The audience waited patiently and bore the delay goodhumaredly, and apparently felt rewarded for the inconvenience they had suffered. When the result was made known to them three lusty cheers were given for Sir George Grey as the meeting dispersed.
