PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished Patronage of His Majesty ths King of Italy, at Rome, accord* ing to communication receiver! from the Consul General for italy at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affair , dated 14t.h March, 1878. We are informed that dealers n medicine often try to seU the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition againßt the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we coneider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— - . The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application cf a m< dicament must increase ioflamu ation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the <il instead of our extract mu*-t impair the diseased. The truth of onr assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price beiDg twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. General Post Office, Wellington, 17th April, 1879. IT is hereby notified, for general information, that the REGULATIONS governing the disposal of UNCLAIMED LETTERS have been amended to the following ex . tent :— Letters posted within the Colony, having; the •••ames and Addresses of the Senders: printed on the address tide of the euvclopes, will, if not claimed within Ono Month, be returned unopened to the Senders, through Chief Postmasters. Letters posted within the Colony, having the Names and Addresses of the Senders printed on the address side of the envelopes, accompanied by a request that the Letters be r turned if not claimed within a stated period, will also be returned unopened. Provided, however, such Letters sh-11 have remained in the Post Offisa to which they , may be addressed at least Ten Days. Such of the Public as may be desirous of taking advantage of the above Regulations are recommended to have the necessary endorsements printed on their envelopes. Letters, however, which do not bear on the ' envelopes any printed endorsement as above described will fle treated iv accordance with the existing .Regulations for the disposal of Unclaimed Letters, viz., retained at the Post Office t j which they ara addressed for a period of two clear months, and then forwarded vo the Dead-Letter Office for return to the writers.
