Christchurch, March 29. Judge Johnston has ordered a trustee to institute legal proceedings against John Johnson, a bankrupt, for fraudulently concealing a portion of his estate from his creditors. There has been fearful weather during the last two days at Akaroa. and ifc isfc now blowing a fierce ga)e. Lake Forsyth was up so high that the coach was compelled bo keep the main road.
Yesterday morning there was a strong south- westerly gale in Christchurch, which blew out the gable end of one of the new railway workshops at Addington. It is not unlikely notice of motion will be brought shortly in the City Council to select 10 acres of land on theßiccarton road for a Governor's residence— the land to be purchased by public subscription, and the Government then to be asked to erect the residence. One of the Councillors promises to head the list with from LSO to LIOO. On Thursday evening a little child was left at the door of the Clerk of the Heathcote River Board, wrapped in a shawl. The infant was taken into the house, and afterwards handed over to the care of the Charitable Aid Board. Constable Crichton, formerly stationed at Lyttelton, died yesterday morning.
