TVTT O T I C E . PURE VOr ATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished Patronage of His Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul General for Italy at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell tbe eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract, So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— i The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains, &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper, An application of the oil instead of our extract mußt impair the diseased. The truth of onr assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its markei value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extiact consists of the evapora' ting particles of the gum leaves, _ soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight, Our extract, the genuine article, is onls made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
