Dctnedin, Feb. 14. The first section of the Otago Central Railway is under tender. Its lensjth is seven miles, and it crosses the Taieri Plains towards Strath-Taieri. Arnold Collet, injured by railway trucks a few days ago, died in the Hospital last night. There are 23 final payments for the Dunedin Cup as against 14 last year. For all races there are 98 as against 63. Mr Ballance returned to Wellington to-day. For the Reaper and Binder contest at the Taieri Agricultural Society's Show there were seven entries. M'Cormack's was first, the Osborne second. There are great preparations for the Governor's reception on Wednesday next. A new drill-shed will be used for the first time. Sailed : Arawata, for Melbourne, via Bluff.
