THE TURKISH AMBASSADOR.
The Manchester Guardian's London correspondeat says :— The absence of the Turkish Ambassador from the civic banquet, yesterday, created no surprise, since it seems to be well known that M. Musurus feels most keenly the unenviable position in which his country has placed itself by its late financial policy. M. Musurus during the whole of his diplomatic residence here has never failed to express himself as most deeply imbued •with the conviction that the interests of Turkey are inseparably bound up with those - of Great Britain, and it is fully understood that he has never failed to place most openly before his Government the state of feeling here on Turkish questions. It is currently stated, too, that he has with equal frankness entered a strong protest against the suicidal act which the Porte has thought fit to commit, and it would not Burprise any who knows him to find that, should his superiors at Constantinople disregard his remonstrance and persevere in their course, M. Musurus will decline to represent them any longer.
