SALE OF THE CLAIMANT'S JEWELRY.
On July 28 Messrs F. Clark and Co, of Old Bond stret, sold by auction, under - instructions from the trustee in bankruptcy in re Sir Roger C. D. Tichborne" several articles of jewelry, late the property of the Claimant. There was a large attendance, and the competition for some of the articles was brisk. A gold keyless chronometer, the back engraved with the arms of the Tichborne family, sold for L 32 j a gold fusee case, crested, L 7 10a ; a handsome and elegautly chased electroplated epergne service, with engraved glass flower vases and fruit dishes, L 44 ; a silver snuff box, finely chased and engraved with crest. This box, the auctioneer said, had been in Newgate. It was filled with the Claimant's snuff. On this fact being announced a rush was made for a pinch, and the box was emptied in a few seconds. The box realised L 3 3s ; and a meerschaum pipe, presented by Mr Guildford Onslow, 30s j a steel patent Reliance safe, by Tann, engraved with the arms of the Tichborne family, and presented to the Claimant by one of his admirers, sold extremely well. A number of other articles were sold at nearly double their value.
