CHRiSTcmmcH.— The " Ljttelton Times" of Saturday last makes the following report: In the grain and produce market, the same dulness as quoted in our last week's report still continues. There have been scarcely any transactions between farmers and merchants, and the large shipments of oats and barley to our outside markets from California, and the report that others are to follow, caused a little unsteadiness in the export business. Flour meet a good town demand. Our quotations remain as follows : — Wheat, 4s 3d to 4s 4d or 4s 5d for extra prime ; oata, 4s to 4s 3d ; barley, good bright malting samples, 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Millers' prices are unchanged, viz.:— Flour, Lll 10s sacks, 1 Ll2 in 1001 b bags, Ll2 10s for 501 b bags ; bran, L 5 15s per ton ; sharps, L 6 10s per ton, with 10s extra f.o.b. in Lyttelton ; oatmeal, L 25 per ton. Butter continues scarce; good: prime qualities command top prices. Cheese is coming forward slowly; we quote s|d to 6d for best qualities. Potatoes are in. fair inquiry. Large orders have been sent to Australia for Auckland market, -which, perhaps, will cause prices to ease a littla here. We quote L4ss as the value in Cbristchurch. Hams and bacon are in excellent demand, and manufacturers are fully occupied in executing orders at last week's prices. . We have nothing new. to report in .the stock and stations market— there being little business done except supplying the trade "At the Yards, 1 on Wednesday, the number of sheep offered ,was limited, and prices went a shade above those of last week,, one small pen oflong-wooled wethers reaching 21s. For merino wethers, 12s was the best price, and ' other sheep ranged between these prices. Our quotation this week is 3£d per lb, with a slightly upward tendency. About one hundred head of cattle were yarded, onethird of which were eagerly competed for, and brought' high prices. One heavy cow brought L2O, equal to 40s per 1001 b, which, however, is abo>e the average market value of beef. Our quotations run from 25s to 30* per 1001 b, according to quality, with a very decided tendency upwards. Milch cows are greatly in request, and command extreme rAttfc"-; ■■■■-■■»■ "•..- ■>'.'-. .;.
