Melbourne. — The Argus of the 10th inst. repert3 :— In the import markets to-day, business has been remarkably quiet. Not the slightest disposition to operate to any extent has been perceptible, and transactions have consequently been few and uuimportant. In breadstuff? the market is easier. Dixon's Wangaretta flour is now offering at Ll3 in parcels. In wheat privately no sales have come under cur observation. 1 At auction, 800 bags Victorian realised from 5s lOd for ordinary to Gs 3d for good samples. 300 bags 'ew Zealand, a little soft, was also quitted at 5s 5d to 5s 6d. In oats a slightly easier feeling has also prevailed, and beyond the disposal pf a line of good stout oats at 5s 3d, little of interest has transpired. Maize has been in demand, and 4 s 7d is readily obtainable. Kerosene meets with rather more favor. We. learn that 5000 cases Devoe's Las been taken up to arrive on private terms. In teas, little'in'the way of sales can' be recorded A ! line of 150 half-chests congous has been disposed of at Is 4Jd in bond. .An invoice of spruce deals, 9x3, has also been placed at a satisfactory price.
