[advt.] [to the editor.] Sir, — I think it my duty, as an old Victorian mate of Mr Wiliam Gardner (whose name in connection with a lawsuit lately appeared in the local papers) to state that 35 years' acquaintance has convinced me that he is a strictly conscientious, steady, and thoroughly deserving man, and I feel assured that any one who really knows him cannot but sympathise with him and his family in the way in which" they are now being harassed. I am, Sir," yours truly, Hanwell Williams.
