Yesterday the wreck of the British Admiral was sold for L 2150, and arrangements are in progress to save the cargo. In the action Coates v. Connell, the plaintiff, a storekeeper at Greymouth, claimed damages for breach of warranty with regard to supplying preserved milk. The verdict was given for the defendant. The markets are very dull, and money is stringent. A late London telegram states that candles and fruit are dearer. Breadsfuffs unchanged ; wheat, prime, 63 6d to 63 7d ; oats, selling freely at 5s 4d good feeding. Bisquet's brandy has been sold at 3d less, and Hennessy's case also has suffered reduction ; sugars are not so tirm ; Devoe's kerosene oil very dull at Is 4jd. Sydney, June 13. The Challenger, which returned to port, resumed her voyage on Friday. After leaving Auckland she goes east to Japan, thence across the Pacific. The debate in reference to the release by the Governor of the bushranger Gardiner, after several days continvance, resulted in equal votes, the casting vote of the Speaker alone prevented a resolution of disapproval being carried. A serious collision has occurred on the northern railway — several passengers injured. Cohen, the auctioneer, is insolvent ; debts, L 16,000.
