WANTED, A RECREATION GROUND.
[to the editor.] Sir, — There hasal.vays apptared to me a great want of energy displayed in tho getting up and carrying out of athletic games here, and on the Coast generally. The waut of a suitable piece of ground has, no doubt, been partly the cause, but still there is a lamentable inertness shown by most of the rising generation in the way of joining in manly games, i understand that there is a movement on foot to raise subscriptions to clear a reserve set aside for recreative purposes. If, however, nobody shows any interest iv any games, where is the use in going to the expense of clearing this land — fellows will loaf about the hotels just the same. iNow, I think if the young men in the place would only show more desire to enter into all these time- honored sports, by playing heartily on the ground they have, the public generally would see that they were in earnest in the matter, aud come forward and assist them in every way to obtain better grounds. I am, &c, A Believer in "Mens sana in CORPORE SANO." April 24.
