Napier, March 23. Skirmishing Match.— First prize, Ll2, Grundy, Thames, 97 points ; second, L 9, J. Buchanan, 90 ; third, LB, Hoskins, 69 ; fourth, L 7, Keys, A. C, 69 ; fifth, L 5, Daviea, 69 ; sixth, L 6, Fox, 69 ; seventh, L 3, Bassett, 66 ; eighth, L 2, Boardman, 65.

The- match on Wednesday between ten of the Napier Rifle Volunteers and ten representative, five highest and five lowest in aggregate. The highest scorer of each team gets L 5.

In his speech the Superintendent spoke strongly on the necessity of opening ! up better communication with Westland, via the northern part of the Province. Auckland, March 23. The frieuds of Volunteer Hoskins, Thames, offer to back him against all competitors, but Hoskins declines to fire. The Thames Volunteers are willing to fire against Napier men for any sum from LSO to LSOO.
